Having taken the original excerpt from the method book, "Essential Elements 2000," I arranged a harmony to accommodate the younger players in my 3rd-5th grade trombone ensemble. This harmony is careful to avoid the note "C" which is unreachable by many young players due to physical limitations.
This arrangement of Aura Lee is also based off of the excerpt from the Essential Elements 2000 method book. In this arrangement, I give additional accommodations and differentiation in the harmony, allowing the younger students to chose the note that works best for them in multiple instances.
A slightly more advanced piece than the previous two, my arrangement of "Ode to Joy," by Ludwig van Beethoven allows both parts a chance at the melody while providing developmentally appropriate harmony lines for the younger students and a more complex harmony for the older more proficient students.
